About
Amu was remanded to prison in July 2025, for alleged connection to a break in at RAF Brize Norton, Britain’s largest airforce base, where two military planes were sprayed with red paint. RAF Brize Norton facilitates surveillance missions over Gaza, providing the Israeli army with intelligence, as well as the refuelling of fighter jets and the transportation of weapons to Israel.
Amu turned 30 in prison in September 2025. Their trial has been set for January 2027 and they could stay on remand until then, meaning they would have spent 1.5 years in prison without having their case heard. Since July, Amu’s fundamental rights have been abused by the prison. Their visits have been restricted, phone cut off, they have been put into solitary confinement for arbitrary reasons, have been subjected to random cell searches, and were forcibly taken off their craft job for embroidering “Free Palestine” on a cushion.
Amu joined the hunger strike on 2nd November, alongside seven other prisoners, to demand the shut down of Elbit Systems in the UK, the deproscription of Palestine Action, the right to a fair trial, an end to censorship, and immediate bail.
